How to control your Ideal Ph and Health Issues that arise when its not maintained

Is your Ph Balanced?? I only heard of PH in either the Deodorant commercials or when my pools Ph levels
are off..but never knew what it really was..

Having a correctly balanced acid alkaline diet is vitally important to our well being, fortunately there are very easy body pH tests that we can use. Having a high acid balance in our bodies can be a result of eating the wrong foods, or even environmental factors such as pollution and stress. A diet that is rich in acid foods such as too much convenience food, or by eating too much meat can have a direct result on how we feel and even how energetic we are.
We are learning more about these negative influences on our bodies, but it can be difficult to know if we are just feeling a bit low naturally, or whether our bodies have an imbalance in our pH. The pH calculation works on a scale from 1 to 14, with 1 being acid and alkaline registering at 14. While opinions remain divided about what is the optimum pH value, aiming between 6.75 and 7.25 is a good mean balance.

Ways to measure the bodies pH values.
There are two main ways to measure the body's pH values, either with urine or saliva. Litmus paper and pH test strips are both good ways to take your bodies measurements with the strips being easier to understand.

pH strips are very accurate and sensitive to pH levels and register values between 4.5 to 9.0 with the results within 15 seconds. pH strips record levels in 0.25 increments allowing you to get pinpoint accuracy with your levels. They are very economical and easy to read.

Litmus paper works in the same way as the strips but without the smaller incremental values. Litmus paper is either used with your saliva or urine and then wait a few seconds for the paper to change color. When the paper has stopped changing color, compare it to the chart included in the litmus packs to get your pH reading.

Ideal range - A pH value of between 6.75 and 7.25 is showing a balanced diet of acid alkaline foods and a healthy lifestyle.
The body has numerous mechanisms in place to maintain pH within the range of 7.35 to 7.45 necessary to prevent serious health issues or death. However, the ideal pH of the human body is 7.365. The closer body pH is to the ideal value, the better you feel and the easier it is to maintain long-term health.

Health Issues Arise When Ideal pH Is not Maintained
When pH drops below the ideal, the body experiences a more acidic environment. This leads to problems such as inflammation and narrowing of the arteries and corrosion of body tissue. Long-term acidic pH may lead to cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Essentially, the body will do anything it can to raise the pH level, putting unneeded stress on internal organs and processes. Most individuals who suffer pH-related health problems do so because of a pH that is too low.
A pH higher than ideal creates a more basic environment. The human body prefers a slightly basic pH level and is better able to tolerate an increase in pH. However, a pH that is too high can also cause problems including slowed respiration, digestive problems, and confusion.

Health Benefits of Maintaining the Ideal pH
While you can survive with pH above or below ideal, you can only feel at your best while at your ideal pH. When the body no longer has to devote resources to balancing pH levels, it can focus on vital functions that become neglected, improving overall health. Benefits of maintaining ideal pH will include improved cardiovascular, digestive, and mental functioning. You will notice also notice immediate improvements in muscle functioning and stamina. When you control your pH over the long-term, it will help to prevent illnesses and infections that tend to thrive in an acidic environment.

Diet and Your Ideal pH
How can you can you improve your pH levels? Diet changes are the key. Many foods are too acidic, contributing to a low pH level and poor overall health. Examples include packaged and processed foods, soda, and most meats. The modern diet of most individuals is devoted to these types of foods, resulting in the decreases seen in overall health.

Alkaline foods are important to raise pH back to the ideal level and maintain it. These include fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, and increasingly popular “green drinks” that consist of ingredients including vegetable and wheat grass juices. Drinking lots of slightly alkaline water will also help to buffer against acidic foods and raise pH.

Anti-Stress  is the BEST and most efficient way to balance your Ph using Essential oils.. it balances you completely and helps you live a healthy STRESS free life!!

Here are 5 reasons why you should Balance your Ph with Anti Stress and EAT HEALTHY!

Higher Energy Levels
Your body is like a machine, and that machine can function in one of two ways: either it can struggle to operate at peak capacity because of poor maintenance and a lack of fluids, or it can fire on all cylinders, full of potential energy and productivity. The body needs a balanced diet to perform all of its functions properly. When you eat a balanced pH diet, combined with low amounts of unhealthy foods, your body has the perfect alkaline composition to perform all of its functions and has to dedicate less energy to compensating for low alkaline levels. This allows it to dedicate more energy to daily tasks, like exercise and the day’s work.

Better Immune System
When your body stops dedicating energy to rectifying alkaline levels that should be achieved through diet, it can focus more on boosting white blood cell count and more effectively combating everything from the common cold to more nefarious viruses like the flu. Additionally, it will ensure that if you do get sick, the experience will be far more brief and less miserable.
Lower Risk of Chronic Disease
By properly nourishing your body with a healthy alkaline level as well as a balanced pH diet and healthy foods, the risk of chronic diseases declines. This is because your body is able to fend off such things as diabetes, the causes of cancer, and heart disease instead of manufacturing basic bodily fluids and acids
Weight Control
Because a balanced pH diet is inherently a healthy diet, adhering to the rules of a healthy alkaline level helps a person maintain a healthy weight. When the body is given all the nutrients it needs from diet, rather than having to compensate for a lack of them, it is able to more fully focus on metabolizing food, burning calories, and maintaining a healthy weight. In addition, a healthy body is able to metabolize foods as energy much easier, rather than storing them as fat. This keeps fat amounts low, body weight healthy, and energy high
Reduced Risk of Cysts
Study after study has shown that highly-acidic diets result in increased calcification of bodily tissues, thus resulting in unhealthy and potentially-fatal cysts and growths throughout the body. A diet with balanced alkaline levels keeps the risk of these occurrences low by slowing the calcification process and helping the body to excrete and eliminate tissues which may already have been calcified.

A balanced pH diets inherently keeps alkaline levels in balance. And that means a number of healthy effects on the body. Most importantly, the reduced risk of terminal diseases like diabetes and heart disease, combined with a lower risk in tissue growth and cysts, means that a balanced pH diet contributes to increased longevity and a greater enjoyment of life in general.

Melissa, not just a name.....

When I first heard of the Melissa Bath Essence, I thought it was named after the SwissJust owner's daughter's name or something... oh boy I was so wrong!  Melissa is actually an herb.... and what an herb it is! It has become, mine, and my two boys and our bathtub's best friend!!

I put a few little drops of this wonderful bath essence into their bath's water, and they sleep like perfect little angels...yesssss!!

I found out more on Melissa for all of you as well...

MELISSA

Melissa officianalis, Certified Organic, Steam Distilled, English, leaves

Probably the most rare herbal essential oil is that distilled from the common Lemon Balm.

The high price of true Melissa is because, although the plant is easy to grow, it takes approximately THREE tons of plant material to yield 1/2 kilo of the essential oil.

A product of a favorite British distiller, this light, clear lemony oil is a delight to the senses and the emotions.

Its aroma is clear and icy-cool. Clean, not medicinal or citronella murky.

Uses? Medicinally Melissa essential oil has been confirmed to have powerful anti-viral properties. Studies in Germany indicate it is useful against various strains of flu virus, herpes, smallpox and mumps. Tisserand cites research indicating that Melissa blended with Rose Otto is effective against both shingles and cold sores. He recommends that adults apply the Melissa EO neat to cold sores, however it is an irritant, so you might want to try a dilution.

Melissa is also recommended for treatment of both nausea and indigestion, especially when they are caused by nervous tension. Some authorities say that it slows the heart beat, relieving palpitations and helps lower blood pressure. Blended with geranium, it may help ease painful periods.

Many sources recommend using Melissa to treat both acne, and allergic skin problems, but due to the irritating nature of the essential oil,it the hydrosol is recommended for skincare purposes.

Agitation - Dementia: A recent study quoted in the Journal of Complimentary Medicine showed that Melissa Essential oil is a safe and effective treatment for the management of agitation in severe dementia.  The study indicates that true pure melissa oil significantly reduced agitation and has important quality of life benefits.  Use of a Melissa herbal extract in a study of patients with mild to moderate Attention Deficit Disorder experienced significant benefits in cognition after 16 weeks of treatment.  Whether the same benefits would occur with use of the essential oil is unknown.

Emotionally, Melissa is a delight. It is a mild sedative in small doses, and believed to calm anxiety. Both calming and uplifting, Melissa Essential oil is said to be extremely useful in cases of emotional shock, grief, fear and anger. It is said to bring acceptance and understanding. Some say it helps in dealing with past lives (?).

WARNING: Melissa Essential Oil is a strong skin irritant, and needs to be used in VERY low dilutions. I would limit it to approximately five drops per ounce of carrier, or two to three drops in a bath

We have Melissa available in a Bath Essence which has a dramatic effect when used directly in water, but the beauty of the bath essence is that it can also be used with the Almond Carrier Cream and Almond Carrier Oil for use in massage. A bottle of the Melissa can last you up to 6 months!

Peace, Love aaaaaaaaand Aromatherapy Folks!

Uses of Eucalyptus Oil and the Uses of Lavender Oil

Soooo, I had a team training session with my lovely Team Leaders Susana and Laura on Thursday. LEARNED SO MUCH!!! (sorry Susana if I was asking soo many questions!!)

Anyway, next months it will be at my humble abode, and I can't wait!
Susana left us all some homework though for next month's meeting, she wanted us to compile the Uses and Benefits of Eucalyptus and Lavender Oils, so here you go Susana!!!

Eucalyptus:

Due to the medicinal uses of Eucalyptus Oil and the compound eucalyptol present in it, it is used in a variety of over the counter drugs including rubs, inhalers, liniments, rash creams, and mouthwashes. The health benefits of eucalyptus oil include the following:

Respiratory Problems: Eucalyptus essential oil is effective for treating a number of respiratory problems including cold, cough, running nose, sore throat, asthma, nasal congestion, bronchitis and sinusitis. Eucalyptus oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti inflammatory and decongestant in nature which makes it a good ingredient for many medicines for treating respiratory problems. A study published in Laryngoscope in 2004 shows its usefulness in treating non-bacterial sinusitis. Patients suffering from non-bacterial sinusitis showed faster improvement when given medicines containing eucalyptus oil. Gargles of eucalyptus oil mixed with warm water are effective on treating sore throat.

Wounds: Eucalyptus essential oil is a good antiseptic owing to its germicidal properties. On its exposure to air, ozone is formed which is a well-known antiseptic. Hence eucalyptus oil is used for healing wounds, ulcers, burns, cuts, abrasions and sores. It is also effective on insect bites and stings.

Muscle Pain: During muscle and joint pains, massaging eucalyptus oil on the skin surface helps in getting relief from the pain. The volatile eucalyptus oil is analgesic and anti inflammatory in nature. Therefore it is often recommended to patients suffering from rheumatism, lumbago, sprained ligaments and tendons, stiff muscles, aches, fibrosis and even nerve pain. The oil is massage in circular motion on affected areas.

Mental Exhaustion: An important reason why people like using eucalyptus oil is that it provides a cooling and refreshing effect. Normally people suffering from any disorder are down. Eucalyptus oil, which is stimulating, removes exhaustion and mental sluggishness and rejuvenates the spirits of the sick. It is also effective in treating stress and mental disorders.

Dental Care: Eucalyptus essential oil is very effective against cavities, dental plaques, gingivitis and other dental infections due to its germicidal properties.

Skin Care: Eucalyptus oil is often applied topically to treat skin infections.

Diabetes: Eucalyptus oil when taken internally controls blood sugar.

Fever: It is also used for treating fever and reducing the body temperature. Therefore it is also called fever oil.

Intestinal Germs: Eucalyptus oil is a vermifuge and hence is used to remove germs in the intestine.

Other benefits of eucalyptus oil include the following:

Room Freshener: The antiseptic and deodorant nature of eucalyptus oil makes it a perfect room freshener for hospitals and sickbed atmosphere. It also kills bacteria and germs in the air and hence keeps the room environment clean.

Soaps: Eucalyptus oil has applications in soaps, detergents and household cleaners as well.

Mouth Wash: As mentioned above, the oil is a prime ingredient in many mouthwashes and toothpastes.

Sauna: Many people add eucalyptus oil to baths, spas and saunas due to its refreshing and antiseptic effect.

Usage of eucalyptus oil in aromatherapy is increasing gradually as it also blends well with many other essential oils including thyme essential oil, rosemary essential oil, marjoram essential oil, lavender essential oil, cedarwood essential oil, frankincense essential oil, etc.

One should take care while using eucalyptus oil. If taken in large quantities, eucalyptus oil is toxic. It may also interfere with homeopathic treatments.

Analgesic
Antiseptic
Cicatrizant
Expectorant

A refreshing note to a tired mind – lavender has been named as one of the most useful of the essences for the relief of anxiety and stress.

Good for aches and pains and muscle stiffness and may also help with rheumatic discomfort and joint
stiffness.

The cicatrizant properties of lavender oil are beneficial to healing of wounds including all types of burns and even treatment of eczema, dermatitis, scabies and psoriasis.

Avoid in pregnancy, epilepsy and fever.

Lavender - Remedy for many health problems

Aching Muscles

If you’ve spent a back-breaking afternoon in the garden, jump into a lavender bath to soothe aches & pains away. Apply Salts & a few drops of Lavender Oil to the bath and soak away the tension.

Acne

Lavender is one of the most valuable oils for the treatment of acne, according to aromatherapists. “It inhibits the bacteria that cause the skin infection, helps to rebalance the over-secretion of sebum, which the bacteria thrive on, and reduce scarring”. Add a few drops of lavender oil to a plain cream sold by chemists and use as a moisturizer or cleanser.

Bugs & Bacteria

French laboratory studies in the early 20th century showed that lavender is a powerful antibacterial in dilutions of 5 per cent or less it is lethal to bacteria that cause typhoid, TB & diphtheria. Combined with Lemon Balm, for its clinically tested anti-viral properties.

Burns (minor)

After you have cooled the area by immersing it in running cold water for 5 minutes, gently stroke on neat lavender oil. Pain relief is almost immediate, and burn usually heals without scarring.

Cuts & Wounds

Apply lavender oil to sooth pain, prevent bacterial infection and aid scar-free healing. Apply neat.

Earache

Warm a bottle of lavender oil in hot water for a minute or two, then gently massage a few drops into the skin around the ears and throat. For babies & small children, add 2-3 drops of the warmed oil to a little olive oil and massage in the same way.

Eczema

Stroke infused lavender oil (a few drops of lavender oil &carrier oil) into dry, itchy skin—small children will find this especially comforting or add a few drops of lavender oil to calamine lotion, shake before use.

Fatigue

Add 5 drops of lavender oil to a hot foot bath and relax while your feet soak in it. The soles of the feet are particularly porous, so lavender reaches your bloodstream very quickly, exerting its stimulating and soothing effects on various systems of your body.

Fevers

For babies or small children, sponge them down very gently with tepid water to which you have added a drop of lavender oil. Take care not to let them get chilled. This works for adults too.

Giddy Spells, Faintness or Pulpitations

Make your own smelling salts—sea salt , lavender oil, peppermint oil & basil oil.

Headache

Make a compress of a piece of cause or muslin soaked in icy cold water then sprinkled with a few drops of lavender oil and apply to the forehead, or massage a few drops into the forehead, temples and nape of the neck.

Insomnia

In a number of small studies, elderly psychiatric patients have been shown to sleep better and be more alert during the day when their sleep medication is replaced with lavender oil either dropped on their pillows, or placed in a diffuser on the ward. To help to induce sleep, put 3 or 4 drops of lavender oil on your pillow.

For babies, add 1 drop of lavender oil & geranium oil in carrier oil and massage into a babies back or a few drops in their bedtime bath.

Long-Haul Travel

Combine lavender, rosemary, Neroli, & sage, into your hand luggage and roll it over your pulse points to help you keep a clear head during those endless hours in the air.

Menstrual Cramps

Massage a few drops of lavender oil into your lower abdomen or apply a hot compress onto the area, which a little lavender oil has been sprinkled.

Moths,Midges & Mosquitos

These annoying little insects all hate the smell of lavender. To prevent bites, splash yourself with lavender before you go out at sunset or to bed, put 3-4 drops of oil on your pillow or soak cotton wool ball in the oil and leave it on a saucer in front of the window. Lavender oil is also a terrific remedy for insect bites, soothing itching & inflammation: dab it on to them neat as soon as possible. To keep moths off your clothes, hand lavender bags on you coat hangers or keep them among your sweaters and refresh them with a drop or two of lavender oil from time to time.

Scabies
This infestation by a tiny mite burrowing into your skin causes intense itching. Rub the whole body with neat lavender oil, then following every day until better with a mixture of lavender oil and alcohol. Change and wash bedding and clothes and sprinkle lavender oil on the mattress.

Shingles
Combine a mix of lavender oil with, analgesic, antiviral & scar preventing essential oils neat or on compresses on the agonizing lesions of shingles. It usually produces a cure within 5-8 days.

Sinusitis
Lavender is one of several essential oils that aromatherapists recommend for inhalations to relieve sinusitis, add two drops of lavender & thyme oil to a bowl of near-steaming water and inhale slowly and deeply, with a towel over your head & bowl.

Stress & Anxiety

Keep a spritzer of Lavender with water handy to spray on your face during the day, or apply lavender oil neat to your temples.

Sunburn

Add 8 drops of lavender oil and 4 drops of peppermint oil to a teaspoon of jojoba oil. Pour it into a cool-to-lukewarm bath and soak for 10 minutes

Wow, so much to take in, but so wonderful!!!! Mother Nature did it again!!!! Ok girls I hope I get an A on my assigment....haha JK!! :-)
